Hurricane Matthew Appeal – Please Give Now
• Nearly 1, 000 people killed in Haiti
• 350, 000 people in need of immediate assistance
• Over 29,000 homes destroyed or severely damaged
• 1.4 million people in need of immediate aid
One of the most severe hurricanes to hit the Caribbean in over 10 years has caused extensive damage and further misery to the people of Haiti – still recovering from the devastating earthquake of 2010.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with 58.5% of the population living on less than US$2.42 per day. Political instability, food shortages, unemployment, a lack of basic infrastructure and now yet again another natural disaster. There are now fears, that there could soon be an outbreak of cholera.
Habitat for Humanity staff are on the ground in Haiti. We have been working in Haiti for 32 years and are well placed to assist in the recovery operation that is now under way, but we need your help.
Our priorities are to support the most vulnerable – the sick, children, pregnant mothers and the elderly, so please give what you can.
Your donation will go a long way to assist communities and families in Haiti to recover and rebuild their homes and lives.
*As we receive more information from our staff on the ground we will update this page.
