The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project Six Months Later

The lives of 160 families across the Mekong Valley in South East Asia were changed for the better last November during the Carter Work Project.

Volunteers from Ireland were among the 2000 volunteers from 32 countries who took part in the build.

Families are now turning their house into a home. Among them is Guan Matip, a vegetable grower in Thailand. She says, “I always thought that it would be impossible to have my own cement house in a clean new community, but my dream has come true”.

Many of the families in Guan’s community have set up their own business and their children now have a safe, secure place to play and grow.
