Join Habitat for Humanity Ireland’s Student Volunteering Programme 2012 – Live and Volunteer in India for one month.

As an international volunteer, you will work side-by-side with local people in Chennai to make a positive contribution to the lives of Indian families, as well as gain a deeper insight into Indian culture. Our Student Volunteering Programme offers first-hand experience of life in a developing country.
Habitat for Humanity’s Student Volunteering Programme 2012 will:
- help you gain international development experience and greater intercultural awareness.
- encourage you to become an active agent for change.
- broaden your personal and professional horizons through volunteering with a leading international charity.
- improve your leadership, communication and team work skills.
What’s Involved?
You will learn and participate in various development initiatives:
- Disaster risk management. Learn how natural disasters effect local communities and help develop strategies to minimise their effects.
- Microfinance. Work with local women’s groups to learn about development of microfinance loans can impact families and communities.
- Education. Teach in local schools and learn about the challenge of providing a good education system.
- Community work. Work with local people to learn about community development, local governments and local resource management.
Overall, you will learn about the impact of Habitat for Humanity’s work and how it contributes to achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
Requirements
Habitat for Humanity Ireland’s Student Volunteering Programme is open to both students and other individuals who want to gain significant volunteering experience overseas, want to learn about development issues and are energetic and enthusiastic about giving something back to those in need.
How much do you need to fundraise?
This year’s minimum target is €3,500* and you will get support from us to help you achieve it!
* not included in the cost: Visa fees, personal expenses, vaccinations.
