Habitat in Haiti

Watch this video to see the work that Habitat has been doing in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. In the last two years Habitat has helped 40,000 Haitian families.

As part of Habitat’s earthquake recovery programme President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, alongside 500 other volunteers, built 100 house in Leogane, Haiti. Watch the video below to see what they have to say about their work in Haiti.

Habitat in Haiti

Nearly two years after the 2010 earthquake, Habitat for Humanity has served nearly 28,000 families in Haiti. Our goal is to serve 50,000 families.

500,000 Habitat houses…and building toward our first million!

On World Habitat Day 2011, Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 500,000th house in Kenya. At the same time it also raised the walls on its 500,001st home in New Jersey, United Sates to signify the amount of work there is still to do to ensure affordable, adequate housing is a priority for all.

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia began construction in 1993 and has since expanded to build houses in 11 communities. HFHE has attempted to integrate its operations with those of community-based organizations to be more effective in its work. One of the groups Habitat work with is ex-leprosy patients. An orphan in Zambia – Dorcas Phiri

Dorcas Phiri and her siblings had to live in a makeshift tent in Zambia after her father died and her mother disappeared. Habitat for Humanity helped them to build a house and all the children are back in school – hoping for a better life. Over the last four years, Habitat for Humanity and Irish Aid have partnered to deliver an Orphans and Vulnerable Children project in Zambia.  Over 20 teams from Ireland have travelled to Zambia to work alongside families and communities on this project in a spirit of partnership, empowerment and dignity.

The World of Hope – Romania
