Homeowner Stories

“It’s a simple home. But compared to four months of sleeping on scrap materials under a tarp, it is a palace. It will be much easier to take care of my nephews and keep them safe in this new house. I feel good about that.” – Sarda, Philippines

You have the power to change lives. Access to land lies at the heart of ending poverty – without land, there can be no housing and housing is the key to stability and opportunity. By using your voice to improve access to safe and secure land, you can help create the foundation for better housing.

Orphans and Vulnerable Children

Since 2007, Irish Aid has co-funded Habitat for Humanity’s Pamwesu project in Zambia. This project aims to promote equitable development and human rights amongst women, orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS in Zambia. This August, thanks to Irish Aid, and your incredible support, a new 3-year phase of this project began.

Local Renovation Programme

Habitat for Humanity Ireland works in partnership with Dublin City Council to renovate derelict houses around the City Centre, enabling low-income families to become first time homeowners. We also partner with like-minded organisations to renovate their housing and community facilities for vulnerable groups. These initiatives help create safe, simple, affordable homes and facilitiesin healthy, vibrant communities.

Investing in development is everyone’s business

These questions were discussed at the panel organised by Habitat for Humanity during the European Development Days 2017 in Brussels.
