Habitat ReStore, the first of its kind in Europe, is now open in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Just an hour and half from Dublin, and open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, ReStore is giving families a way to improve their home at just a fraction of the cost.
Habitat ReStore is the low-cost DIY store that sells donated new and used building supplies and home improvement materials at 50-75% of the normal retail value. The range of products on offer includes: kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, bricks, paving, insulation, electrical goods, office furniture, and even the nuts and bolts to hold it all together! ReStore has everything under one roof.
ReStore is staffed by a team of committed Habitat volunteers under the guidance of retail manager Niall McConkey. All profits raised through ReStore will help build hope and homes locally and around the world.
In challenging economic times and with an increasing need to be more environmentally responsible Habitat ReStore is already delivering real impacts; serving the local community by helping people improve their homes, diverting tons of re-usable material from landfill and building a more sustainable future for Ireland.
Supporting Habitat ReStore
The continuing success of ReStore is dependent on the quality and quantity of donated products and that is where the support of the construction sector across Ireland is essential.
A partnership with Habitat provides an opportunity to link your business with a unique local and global charity brand. We want to build relationships which will meet company goals, help deliver on your sustainability targets, tangibly increase your company profile and help more families build their own way out of poverty.
One of the many Irish companies already supporting ReStore is Creagh Concrete, Managing Director Seamus McKeague can already see the benefits for his company.
“The Habitat ReStore has provided us a platform to be more socially and environmentally responsible. Reducing waste is a longterm goal for our company. Knowing what we have donated will provide a low-cost DIY alternative for local families, boosts our efforts to be more environmentally responsible and raise much needed funds to support families trapped in poverty globally is phenomenal.”
Your company can get involved by donating any surplus or discontinued stock which would normally go to landfill. We need good quality reusable materials including building supplies, doors, kitchens and bathrooms, lighting, garden equipment, tools and appliances in good working order.
In particular, ReStore has a demand for good quality kitchen units and appliances and has recently launched ‘Kitchen Rescue’. By working alongside Irish kitchen companies Kitchen Rescue will reach out to customers who would consider donating their good quality used kitchen to the Habitat ReStore, diverting tons of reusable waste from landfill.
